- Olive oil. You'll need an equal amount of olive oil to lemon juice.
- Cayenne pepper. Measure with your heart, though we typically use 2 teaspoons per 4 oz.

Tammy says
How long do you have to wait to consume anything else. 15 minutes 20 minutes?
Ashley says
We usually wait 10-15 minutes before enjoying a cup of coffee or eating breakfast. Hope that was helpful, Tammy.
Christel says
How much is a shot? Tea spoon or moreChristel
Ashley says
Hi Christel, 2.5 oz. (about 1/3 cup).
Dianna Jackson says
Do you have to refrigerate it for the 3 days?
Ashley says
Hi Dianna, you can drink it right away. It can hold up in the fridge for up to a week (if not longer). However, lemon juice can turn bitter over time, so I'd consume it as quickly as you can, and make fresh batches regularly. Hope that helps.
Sharon A Cruz-pecina says
how many serving is this recipe? If i wanted to make a serving size fresh for each day is the amount different?\
Ashley says
Hi Sharon,
This recipe is 2 servings. Each serving yields about 1/3 cup. We treat it like taking a shot. Also, we double (sometimes triple) the recipe card so that we can have "shots" throughout the week. We divide our servings into 2.5 ounce Mason jars. I hope that helps.
Annette Posada says
I love this but after the required time, when can I start it again?
Ashley says
Hi Annette, you can restart the process as often as you like. We typically do it 3-4 times a week, in no particular order. Hope that helps.
Cristel Day says
I love this recipe. I started doing it. I need this cleanse. However, The downfall is severe acid reflux. What can I do about that?
Ashley says
Try taking small amounts. Also, I'd check with a medical provider about having a severe acid reflux. We wish you well.

Hello, I was curious if you could use grapefruit instead of lemon juice. I have both growing at my house and enjoy grapefruit as well.
Thanks, Sutton
Ashley says
Hi Sutton, Dr Barbara O'Neill has not mentioned grapefruit, so we are unsure. Homegrown grapefruit does sounds delicious though!
Debra Woolford says
Grapefruit can interact with some medications
Yna says
Hello Is it possible to add honey?
Ashley says
Hi, Dr Barbara O'Neill has not mentioned honey.
Rey A. says
I have been taking each of a tablespoon of fresh squeezed lemon juice and olive oil in a cup of warm water first thing in the morning and on an empty stomach. Now that I have learned your recipe and with the magic of cayenne pepper, I will switch. If I have to add ginger, turmeric, and black pepper in the mixture, how much of each can be added without losing the potency of the original recipe?
Ashley says
Hi Rey, since both ginger and cayenne are spicy, i'd recommend a teaspoons of grated ginger in place of the cayenne. If you add turmeric powder, i'd recommend 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder followed by a pinch of black pepper. Give the mixture a good shake to incorporate that powder well! I hope this was helpful...
Bernadette Samuel says
Hi For how long should i consume this and in a week how many times should i drink this . Is it safe for diabetic patients
smyth says
I tried it for a few days. The taste is good. Didn't see a difference in movement. I suffer from inflammation in my gut, and I have for years. Poor circulation due to a heart problem I just had fixed. I did feel a bit more cramping (maybe signs of it wanting to work) honestly nothing ever has. Iv begun to accumulate weight which is new for me. I gained 15 lbs in the past few months I regularly weight around 150. Soo my body is struggling during my recovery, even prior. I will continue to try. I don't give up easily. I use to be quite healthy and stable.

Hello I’ve been taking this for 4 days now, for day 3 and 4 my bowl movement have been on the dark side is that normal?
