Welcome to Crave-Worthy, where you don't have to choose between satisfying your cravings and nourishing your body! I'm Ashley, the recipe developer, photographer, and food enthusiast behind this blog.
My culinary journey began amidst the vibrant and diverse food scene of Long Beach, California, in the 1990s. Growing up in a melting pot of cultures, I was constantly exposed to an exciting array of flavors and cuisines. From the iconic beachside burger joints to the bustling Thai Town and the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals from neighbors of all backgrounds, Long Beach instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of food to connect people and cultures.
That early exposure sparked a lifelong curiosity about different ingredients and cooking techniques. Now, my kitchen is also inspired by my wonderful hybrid family. My husband, being from the beautiful city of Istanbul, has brought the rich and nuanced flavors of Turkish cuisine into our home. This fusion of my American upbringing and the authentic tastes of Turkey has become a cornerstone of Crave-Worthy.
My Food Philosophy: Creating Healthy Twists on Comfort Food with the Vibrant Flavors of the Mediterranean
Here at Crave-Worthy, you'll find recipes built on a foundation of fresh, seasonal ingredients, plenty of heart-healthy olive oil, and a focus on clean eating principles. Growing up in the diverse culinary landscape of Long Beach, I developed a love for all kinds of comfort food, from classic American dishes to the satisfying flavors of local spots, including my fair share of Chinese takeout. Now, I reimagine these beloved meals with a lighter touch – creating healthier versions of those takeout favorites – just as I also draw inspiration from the incredibly nutritious and flavorful Mediterranean diet, including the vibrant dishes of Turkey, to bring you healthy twists on comfort food that are both satisfying and nourishing.
Think satisfying meals that leave you feeling energized, not weighed down. From lighter takes on macaroni salad packed with protein to quesadillas bursting with the goodness of spinach and feta (a nod to Mediterranean flavors), and even comforting breakfast bowls infused with Turkish spices and ingredients like my bulgur soup and Fasulye Recipe (Turkish white bean stew). My goal is to show you that enjoying your favorite types of food can absolutely be a part of a healthy lifestyle.
