Make celery juice at home without a juicer. All you need is fresh celery, water, and flavor add-ins like green apple, lime, and ginger. The result is smooth celery juice that you can meal prep for the week for an easy grab-and-go healthy drink.

Celery juice provides various nutritional benefits, and making it at home is more cost-effective. Additionally, it is hydrating, healthier than sugary sodas or store-bought juices, and serves as a good source of vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients You'll Need

Ingredients to Make Celery Juice
  • Celery: You'll need two stalks of celery. Remember, a single piece of celery is called a rib, so don't confuse it for a stalk when adding it to the blender!
  • Fresh ginger: For an immunity boost.
  • Lime: For a citrus touch, you can also use lemon.
  • Green apple: For added sweetness.

Soak Celery and Ginger in Cold Water

Celery and Ginger Soaking in Water

You will need a high-speed blender, a fine mesh strainer, and a large bowl. The first step to making celery juice in your blender is to prepare the ingredients. One of the most important tips is to soak the celery and ginger in water for at least an hour (or overnight) to help these very fibrous ingredients break down more easily. You wouldn't want many fiber strands tangled around your blender blade (yes, I've done that!).

  2. Blend the Ingredients:
    • Add the chopped celery, ginger, and 4 cups of water to a blender.

    • Tip: If your blender is small, process the celery and water in batches.

  3. Strain the Juice:
    • Place a fine-mesh strainer over a large bowl.
    • Pour the blended mixture into the strainer, pressing the pulp with a spoon to extract as much juice as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is celery juice good for you?

Celery, being primarily composed of water, is a hydrating beverage. Additionally, it contains antioxidants that may shield cells from damage. Furthermore, celery offers essential electrolytes like potassium, which play a crucial role in numerous bodily functions.

Can you taste the green apple in this recipe?

Unfortunately, no. Despite adding more apples, time and time again, celery remains the dominant flavor. I do like to add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy drink—it's absolutely delicious!

What's the best type of blender to use?

A high-powered blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec is ideal for making smooth celery juice.
