Try this mouthwatering grilled broccoli recipe featuring tender florets, a tangy balsamic sauce, and pecorino cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound broccoli, washed, trimmed, cut into florets
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup olive oil extra virgin (+ more for oiling grill)
  • ¼ cup pecorino romano cheese (freshly grated)
  • 1 lemon (optional)

Instructions

Maple Balsamic Dressing

  1. Add balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, garlic, red pepper flakes, sea salt, and pepper to a large mixing bowl. Stir to dissolve the salt.
  2. Slowly add olive oil while whisking until a smooth dressing/sauce forms.
  3. Add the broccoli florets to the balsamic. Toss to coat to coat well and let it hang out for 10 minutes on the side.

Gas Grill

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high (around 425°F). Place the florets directly on the grates and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until slightly charred and tender-crisp.

Stove-Top Grill pan

  1. Preheat your grill pan over medium-high heat. A cast iron pan works exceptionally well, but any grill pan will do.
  2. Drizzle oil onto the pan and use a brush to coat it evenly.
  3. Add the seasoned broccoli florets to the hot pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side or until tender-crisp and slightly charred. You want those delicious grill marks!

Chared Lemons (optional)

  1. To char lemons, slice them into wedges or halves and place them flat-side down. Cook along with broccoli florets until charred lines appear.

Serve

  1. Add pecorino cheese, toss, and serve with charred lemons.
