This homemade mustard, made from scratch with simple pantry ingredients, is easy to make and offers a unique and irresistible flavor that enhances any sandwich or dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup yellow mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 4 teaspoons lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or to desired sweetness)
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Place the mustard seeds, water, and apple cider vinegar in a jar and store in a dry, dark place at room temperature for 24 hours or up to 3 days. This stage will aid in softening the seeds and give the mustard that delightful tang that we all enjoy in mustard.
  2. The following day, add the mustard seed mixture, lemon juice, honey, paprika, turmeric, and sea salt to the blender. Process until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Transfer the fresh mustard to a jar with a lid and store it in the refrigerator for up to a month.
