Hi there! I’m Ashley. I live on top of a mountain in Kocaeli, Turkey with my husband, Ali, and two daughters. I moved to Turkey for the love of my husband and the need for him to reunite with his family after being apart from them for nearly 10 years. With that being said, being married to a Turk means lots of Mediterranean meals made ( and many, many dishes washed).

Living in Turkey means a few things. Eating Mediterranean meals is the basis of all Turkish cuisine, and due to the nature of the culture, we eat seasonally, locally, and buy in bulk.

With these healthy eating practices, you’ll find whole food cravings here on the blog that is family-friendly and simple to prepare. I’m so excited to share my wholesome recipes with you and your loved ones.

xoxo,

Ashley Altan

Quick Q & A

Browse below to discover a little bit more about me.

Where did the name crave-worthy come from?

I started a blog before this one. I didn't like the name of my old blog, and there was one word that I used on that blog, and that word was crave-worthy. It matched perfectly with my philosophy that I had to make healthier recipes that my family and friends craved.

what autoimmune diseases do you have?

Though I have no autoimmune diseases, I do prefer to eat gluten-free.

What's your favorite food?

Though Turkish food is A-mazing, the cuisine that makes me feel right at home is Mexican food.

How do you even get started blogging?!

I studied New Media Writing and English Literature so I was already set up to be a writer. Creating a blog felt like the natural thing to do.

What kitchen tools do you recommend for someone just starting a healthy diet?

Your diet is only as good as the tools you use. Invest in a high-speed blender and food processor.

Can I swap ingredients in your recipes?

Absolutely. Just make sure to read the notes in every recipe card to ensure you are swapping for the right ingredients.

What camera do you use?

I use a Sony Alpha 6400.

What do you use to edit your photos?

I enjoy using LightRoom.

What's your food philosophy?

My food philosophy is not to live my life on a diet. I eat well, seasonal—the way nature intended. It's about eating real food that makes my body feel good so that I can live a happy, healthy life with my loved ones.
